Many of the relationships formed through the kSail/BUSA Partnership begin when a club hosts a team racing event.
Over the years, we have worked alongside university sailing clubs, host venues and organising teams to support events ranging from local invitationals through to major championship qualifiers and finals.
The support available will vary between events, but typically combines access to the kSail Events Portal, direct support from the kSail team, and a range of equipment and services designed to help clubs prepare for and deliver successful events.
Direct Support for Event Organisers
One of the most valuable aspects of the partnership is often the simplest: access to people who have supported a wide range of university events before.
Whether you are hosting an event for the first time or building on an established fixture, through the Partnership, Keith, Paul and the wider kSail team are always happy to discuss ideas, answer questions and provide guidance throughout the planning process.
This may include support with documentation, event setup, schedules, Portal configuration, fleet preparation, logistics or simply acting as a sounding board when questions arise.

The kSail Events Portal
One of the most widely used benefits of the partnership is the preferentially priced access to the
kSail Events Portal for recognised university events.
The Portal is used throughout the event lifecycle, from publishing notices and managing teams through to schedules and results. Once racing is complete, results remain available through the Portal and become part of the growing historical record of university sailing.
Event Equipment and Spares
The partnership also provides access to equipment and support services designed specifically for university hosted events.
This includes:
- Event spares boxes
- Hire equipment
- Fleet preparation assistance
- Technical advice before and during events
On-Venue Support
For some events, members of the kSail team may be able to support the event in person. Events such as Magnum, Cam Cup and the Wessex Winter Warmer have all benefited from additional on-site support before, during and after racing. This support is often tailored to the needs of the host club. In some cases, this may involve helping prepare boats before an event. In others, it may focus on post-event repairs, maintenance or practical training for club bosuns and fleet managers. One of the strengths of the partnership is that support does not necessarily begin when the first race starts, or end when the last race finishes.
